Starting on July 31, 2018 new
Biometrics regulations will be launched. When applicants apply for a
visitor visa, study or work permit (except U.S. nationals), or permanent
residence applicants will need to give their fingerprints and a photo.
To facilitate repeat travel to Canada, applicants for a visitor visa,
study or work permit will only need to give their biometrics once every

Visitor visas are required for certain foreign nationals who
wish to visit or travel to Canada. Some Foreign nationals may or may not
require a temporary resident visa depending on their citizenship.
Foreign nationals who do require visas must first make applications to a Canadian visa office before they can travel to Canada.
- Applications will need to meet the following requirements:
- have a valid travel document, such as a passport.
- be in good health; A medical examination may be requested.
- satisfy
an immigration officer that youhave ties to your country of origin,
such as a job, home and family, which will compel you to return.
- satisfy an immigration officer that they will leave Canada at the end of their visit.
- have
sufficient funds for your stay; the amount of money the person
traveling will need may vary based on their vary circumstances of the
visit, how long they will stay and whether that person will stay in a
hotel, with friends or with relatives.
- you may also need a letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.
Tips that are use full in trying to avoid a refusal are as follows: - be
sure to demonstrate a clear purpose of the trip. Provide compelling
reason for a person to return to their country of residency or country
of citizenship after their visit to Canada is very important when
submitting a visitor visa application.
- Providing travel history if the person has travelled before;
- Provide
ties to a person’s home country by demonstrating reasons why they need
to return home such as employment and other obligations such as caring
for a parent.
- Economic factors are important factors not to
overlook. Be sure to indicate how the person will pay for their trip;
show their current financial status in their home country stability and
how they will financially provide for themselves in Canada.

22 entrepreneur applicants have been issued invitations to
apply to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program Entrepreneur Stream on March
27, 2018
The Entrepreneur Stream is for experienced
business owners or senior business managers who want to live in Nova
Scotia. They must start a new business or buy an existing business and
must actively participate in the day-to-day management of the business.
After operating the business for a year, the entrepreneur may be
nominated for permanent resident status. Application to the stream is by
invitation only.
ELIGIBILITY
To apply you must:
- be 21 years of age or older;
- want to live permanently in Nova Scotia while owning and actively managing a Nova Scotia business;
- have a net worth of at least $600,000 CAD;
- be able to invest at least $150,000 CAD of your own money to establish a business in Nova Scotia;
- have
at least 3 years’ experience actively managing and owning a business
(1/3 ownership minimum) OR more than 5 years’ experience in a senior
business management role;
- have a score of at least 5 on the Canadian Language Benchmark in speaking, listening, reading and writing in English or French;
- receive an Invitation to Apply from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration.
Once
revising an invitation to apply, applicants have 90 days from the
issuance of the Invitation to Apply (ITA) letter to submit
their application.
If approved and a work permit is granted, the
applicant must start a new business or buy an existing business and must
actively participate in its day-to-day management. After operating the
business for one year, the applicant may apply to become a permanent
resident through the Nova Scotia PNP Program.

On March 28, 2018 the Quebec Government announced new
regulations related to the Quebec’s immigration programs, including the
Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP). Some of the changes to the
QIIP included the following:
- Candidates must have net assets of at least CAD $2,000,000 (previously this amount was $1,600,000);
- The required investment amount has increased to CAD $1,200,000 (previously this amount was $800,000).
- Quebec’s
Immigration Ministry, the Ministère de l’Immigration, et de la
Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI), has also stated their intention to
create its own version of Express Entry to that of the Federal Express Entry Program.
Some
of the proposed changes are set to begin in August 2018. Until
such time, Quebec Immigration will not be accepting any new

On March 26, the province of Ontario selected candidates in Canada’s
Express Entry pool and invited candidates with a CRS score between 351
and 446 to apply for a nomination certificate. In an announcement, the
province of Ontario explained that the low CRS score
invitation was conducted to help Ontario meet its labour market and
economic development priorities, and to be more responsive to employer
