On March 28, 2018 the Quebec Government announced new
regulations related to the Quebec’s immigration programs, including the
Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP). Some of the changes to the
QIIP included the following:
- Candidates must have net assets of at least CAD $2,000,000 (previously this amount was $1,600,000);
- The required investment amount has increased to CAD $1,200,000 (previously this amount was $800,000).
- Quebec’s
Immigration Ministry, the Ministère de l’Immigration, et de la
Diversité et de l’Inclusion (MIDI), has also stated their intention to
create its own version of Express Entry to that of the Federal Express Entry Program.
Some
of the proposed changes are set to begin in August 2018. Until
such time, Quebec Immigration will not be accepting any new

On March 26, the province of Ontario selected candidates in Canada’s
Express Entry pool and invited candidates with a CRS score between 351
and 446 to apply for a nomination certificate. In an announcement, the
province of Ontario explained that the low CRS score
invitation was conducted to help Ontario meet its labour market and
economic development priorities, and to be more responsive to employer

announced that potential sponsors have been selected at random and have
60 days from the date of invitation to submit their sponsorship

Today March 14, 2018 Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
(IRCC) invited applicants with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)
score of 456 to apply for Canadian permanent residence through the
Express Entry System. The CRS cut-off threshold increased by 14 points
from the previous draw on February 21, 2018. To apply for permanent

Foreign caregivers will not be eligible to apply for permanent
residence if they have not worked two years in Canada by November 29,
2019 as per Immigration Refugees Citizenship and Immigration Canada
(IRCC) latest announcement.
IRCC is currently reviewing
Canada’s two programs for foreign caregivers. 1) The caring for children
pathway and 2) the other for those caring for people with high medical
needs pathway. As per IRCC they will stop accepting applications for the
caregiver permanent resident program on November 29, 2019. Based on
this announcement it could mean the end of the caregiver permanent
residency programs for foreign caregivers. However we will continue to
monitor the situation and provide updates once information becomes
available.
